Wednesday Weekly Meditation and Talk with Dr. Roger Walsh
Much research has shown that meditation is one of the very best ways to cultivate the brain states of self-awareness, calm and inner peace, lovingkindness, mindfulness, and happiness – as well as strengthen the immune system and nurture other health benefits.
Join Dr. Roger Walsh for a live-streamed weekly meditation, talk, and discussion. Roger Walsh MD, Ph.D. DHL is a professor emeritus of psychiatry, philosophy, and anthropology at the University of California, whose research focusses on topics such as meditation, psychological wellbeing, wisdom, and the psychological roots of our global crises. His books include Essential Spirituality as well as The World of Shamanism, and his research and writings have received over twenty national and international awards. He is a student and researcher of contemplative practices, an authorized lama in Tibetan Buddhism, and cohost of the podcast Deep Transformation: Self-Society-Spirit with listeners in over 170 countries, www.deeptransformation.io. His more curious careers include having been a circus acrobat, graduating from the San Francisco Comedy College, and having an extremely brief and unsuccessful career as a standup comedian. These teachings are offered freely, at no charge. And if you like, you may wish to participate in the age-old tradition of generosity through making an offering yourself – called “dāna” – to support Roger and the Wednesday Meditations. Generosity itself is a beautiful practice that opens and gladdens the heart, relaxes the contraction of “self,” and ripples out into the world to touch many people – and perhaps, eventually, even oneself.
