A 6-week journey with Dr. Rick Hanson
The Healing Link
Using Neuroscience to Repair Old Wounds
The course that reaches the wounded, younger layers inside you — filling what's been empty and soothing what's been hurting — so that change finally lasts.

You did the work.
So why does the pain keep coming back?
Maybe you've gone to therapy, read the books, tried one practice after another... and nothing really lasted. It helped for a while, and then old triggers and patterns popped right back up.
This is a common situation that I've heard over and over in my decades of being a teacher and clinical therapist. There's a lot of wisdom in therapy, self-help, reparenting and inner child work. What's been missing is a mechanism for change. You can understand exactly where a wound came from and still feel it running the show a decade later, because nothing has actually reached the younger layer where it lives.
So on this journey, I'll teach you the step that closes that gap: Linking. It's the essential part of the process that turns understanding into lasting change.
A 6-Week Live Journey to Help You
Heal both kinds of old pain:
What you needed and never got
Some old pain feels like an empty place inside, a longing that doesn't go away. It comes from good things that didn't land when you needed them: safety, love, belonging. Linking helps you fill that place, one good experience at a time.
What happened and still hurts
Other pain comes from moments of real harm that you took in and carried forward. They still shape how you react today, even when you understand exactly where they came from. Linking helps soothe that hurt so it loses its grip.
COURSE BEGINS OCTOBER 16, 2026

You don't have to keep managing old pain for the rest of your life. You can actually resolve it — and feel the difference, for good.

Who This Course is For (And Not For):
This course is for you if...
-
You've done therapy, read the books, reflected a lot, and the old reactions still take over when you least expect them.
-
You understand your patterns, and you're tired of that understanding not changing how they feel.
- You're ready to commit for the full 6 weeks: a few hours a week and at least 5-15 minutes of practice per day for real, lasting change.
-
You're carrying old hurts you're ready to put down.
-
You want a practice you can use on your own, in everyday life, long after the six weeks end.
-
You're a therapist or coach who wants to understand this practice from the inside, for yourself and for the people you work with. Continuing education credits are available.
-
You're a Rick-fan OR new to Rick's work. No prior course is needed. If you already know HEAL, week one moves quickly. If you don't, you'll learn it from the start.
This course may not be for you if...
-
You're looking for a quick fix. Old pain eases through repeated practice, and you'll get the most from the course if you give it about three hours a week: the live session with Rick, your weekly practice group, and short practices between sessions.
-
You mainly want more insight into your past. Most of each session is spent practicing, and the focus is on changing how old pain feels.
- You're in crisis or living with severe mental health challenges such as complex trauma, psychosis, or a history of suicidality. This is an educational program and not therapy, and it can stir things up without individual support. Please reach out to a professional first.

Answers to Common Questions:
How much time will this take each week?
It all depends on how much you want to put into this program. If you're going all-in (which we suggest for real change!), plan on 3 hours per week:
- 1-hour session with Rick
- 1-hour practice group session
- 1 hour of short practices spread throughout the week.
Is this program for everyone?
This course is an educational program for the general public. It is not psychotherapy, nor treatment for any physical or mental health condition. Participants take responsibility for their own experience in the program. The program could be a useful resource for normal range experiences of sadness, anxiety, stress, and interpersonal issues, including for people in psychotherapy for these concerns. If you are engaging in psychotherapy while engaging this program, please tell your therapist. Last, if you have serious psychological issues or a history of suicidality, complex trauma, psychosis, or other severe mental health issues, you should consider not participating in this program as it could stir things up for you without there being the option of individual support – and we strongly advise that you seek professional treatment.
What day and time are the live sessions with Rick?

October 16th

Note: Timezones/clocks change for many people in late October - so that may affect the time for you in the October 30th session.

However, all of the sessions with Rick will be recorded, and you will have lifetime access to them.
